Parent Teacher Conferences

It was so nice to see almost all of my student's parents!  Thank-you so much for taking time out of your busy day to meet with me. 
I hope you gained some insight into what your child's goals are and how I can help at school and how you can help at home to help your child reach those goals.  Working together, we will help your child become successful.

End of Quarter 1

End of Quarter 1 was Friday.  I can't believe how fast it went.  It's amazing to see how much my students have progressed since the beginning of the year.  Report cards and parent teacher conferences are coming up.  I hope to have a good turn out!

Back to School Night

Fairfield had Back to School Night Thursday, Sept. 29th.  It was raining at the start so I didn't think very many families would come.  It ended up we had a great turn out.  The students were excited to get their free backpacks and pencils.  We had a scavenger hunt which involved students showing their families where things are in their classrooms.  It was a nice, layed back atmosphere.    It was great to see so many people from my current class and last years class!

Snapshots

I've been telling my students why we are learning ABC's and letter sounds....to read and write.  I tell them if someone asks what they are doing in workstations they need to say they are learning their letters and sounds so they can read and write.  They've got it down!  Solid!  The other day my principal walks in for a snapshot and asks a boy at playdoh workstation what he's doing.  I'm so excited because I know he's going to nail it!  I imagine him answering, "We are making letters out of playdoh to help us learn how to read and write!"  My heart is full of joy awaiting his response and he answers...."Playing with playdoh!"  I'm crushed! I want to jump across the table and scream, "Wait!  We've practiced this!  That's not what he's supposed to say!" 
Moral of the story...You can practice all you want but you never know what's going to come out of their mouths!

I can't believe how smart my kids are!  I have the best class!
