Mrs. Hogan

Hello! Welcome to my blog. This is my second year as a Kindergarten teacher at Fairfield Elementary. I have also taught Kindergarten at Washington Center. Before teaching I was a Director of Preschool/Childcare Center.

I enjoy being in early childhood because I love to see how excited they get about learning and the huge progress they make from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.

I hope my students become caring individuals and develop a love for learning while in my class.

Snapshots

I've been telling my students why we are learning ABC's and letter sounds....to read and write.  I tell them if someone asks what they are doing in workstations they need to say they are learning their letters and sounds so they can read and write.  They've got it down!  Solid!  The other day my principal walks in for a snapshot and asks a boy at playdoh workstation what he's doing.  I'm so excited because I know he's going to nail it!  I imagine him answering, "We are making letters out of playdoh to help us learn how to read and write!"  My heart is full of joy awaiting his response and he answers...."Playing with playdoh!"  I'm crushed! I want to jump across the table and scream, "Wait!  We've practiced this!  That's not what he's supposed to say!"
Moral of the story...You can practice all you want but you never know what's going to come out of their mouths!
